This
wonderful pendant offers a creative design by Navajo artist Kenneth
Begay. Kenneth Begay (1913–1977) was called the "father of modern
Navajo jewelry" for his innovative modern designs. Although his career
began from the traditional jewelry teachings of Fred Peshlakai, Kenneth took
his talent beyond those early lessons. He created elegant, clean designs with
balance and beauty! This beautiful pendant depicts his style of work
perfectly. Simple elegance!
This lovely pendant is one of Kenneth's early pieces dated 1950 from the White Hogan based on the etchings on the back. It appears to be given as a gift of Love from David to Nancy, 3-24-50. It is hallmarked with his KB hallmark and the White Hogan hallmark. This was the first-year John and Virginia Bonnell open the doors at the Scottsdale location.
The pendant measures 2 3/8" long including bale loop by 1 7/8" wide. It has a medium heavy weight. It is absolutely beautiful on! The hand-crafted twist wire collar is 14" diameter and is sold separately.
