Description

A stunning bracelet by Navajo silversmith Fred Peshlakai. (1896-1972) Circa is estimated to be in the 1930's or earlier. This bracelet of Fred's offers a vintage piece of history. Being one of his rarer bracelets in the traditional split rail style and then having the Swastika stamped on the sides. The Whirling Log (swastika) is a very old (1890-1940) symbol used by the Navajo and other tribes that predates the negative use of the symbol. It represented the four directions in the tribal beliefs. In February 1940, the tribes banned the use of the symbol.

Exquisite craftsmanship of the silver and beautiful stamp work on the sides. A truly beautiful bracelet!

The bracelet measures 1 1/4" wide, top center, tapering to 7/8" at the end terminals. The inside measurement of 5 3/8" with a 1" gap. Hallmarked Peshlakai.
