Description

This beautiful pin/pendant is hand crafted Zuni work. The fine detail and precise work lends itself to having been made by a very experienced silversmith. The center face is set with natural turquoise, jet, Mother of Pearl and coral, with the outer rays of gem grade abalone shell and deep brown mussel shell. This piece offers the best in Zuni work. It measures 1 3/8" diameter. Not hallmark, which was common during this early time period in jewelry making. Just amazing colors!

This great piece comes from the family/collection of long time trader Charles Newcomb. Mr. Newcomb was the second owner of the established 1926 trading post, Casa del Navajo in Coolidge, NM. Mr. Newcomb employed Navajo craftspeople to make their creations at the post for tourists and visitors. Mr. Newcomb began trading at the beginning of the 1900's as a clerk at the Guam Lumber and Trading co. near Old Coolidge.
