This lovely Pueblo necklace features a mix of Natural Blue Diamond turquoise tabs and spiny oyster tabs with hand rolled, graduated Natural Blue Diamond heishi beads. The addition of the Natural Blue Diamond Jacla (earring) pair with spiny oyster corns adds the final touch to this wonderful necklace. It has a signature shell at the very top of the heishi and a traditional wrap. A great deal of hard work goes into the making of these type necklaces. The smooth, carefully shaped tabs and fine workmanship of the heishi lends itself to a master at his or her craft. It is just beautiful on! The necklace is 26 1/2" long total length with an additional 5" long Jacla.

This style of beadwork is thought to be the oldest form of jewelry from New Mexico and is still practiced today mostly among Native Americans of the Santo Domingo (Kewa) and San Felipe Pueblos. These necklaces have been worn for decades by many different tribes. It predates the metalworking and lapidary techniques practiced by the Navajo, Hopi and Zuni, which were introduced by Europeans.
