Joe Herrera Quintana (1915-1991) is considered by many to be one of the true master silversmiths of the 20^th century. Learning metal work during WWII, after the war he returned to his home in the Cochiti Pueblo and began his career in jewelry making. He apprenticed with well-known jeweler Frank Patania and worked in a number of shops in both Santa Fe and Albuquerque NM.

This beautiful overlay Thunderbird design features a single turquoise stone and 3 dangle cones. Beautiful hand crafted beads add the final touch to this lovely necklace. The perfect size for either a man or woman. A beautiful satin patina graces the entire piece with a heavy silver weight of both the beads and pendant. The pendant measures 2 5/8" long x 1 7/8" wide. The handcrafted beads are 21 1/5" long. A special etched hallmarked with Joe H Quintana Cochiti Pueblo N.M. 54.
