Description

This wonderful second phase concho belt features 6 large, heavy Conchos with a beautifully crafted buckle. The second phase of silver work has been dated from 1900-1930, with the introduction of copper bars placed on the backs of the Conchos to hold the leather.

The workmanship of stamping, chisel, repousse and file work is very well done, with some wear. The buckle is quite nice with amazing stamp work. The natural turquoise stones are a light green with some aged color change. A fairly heavy patina graces the silver. The back bars are also silver, instead of copper. The leather is in good condition with some age also. Circa: around 1910-1920 from all indications. This belt was from a family collection of over 70 years. Stored with care and worn occasionally.

Each concha measures 4" by 3", with a slight variation. The beautiful buckle measures 4" by 3 1/4". The weight is a substantial 25 ounces. A great example of the second phase of Native silver work. The entire leather measures 39 1/2".
