These
lovely dangle earring are Zuni work. Set with hand cut black jet, set in smooth bezels. Hand crafted links are securely attached allowing the lovely jet circles to hang beautifully. The earrings measure 3 1/4" long, with the top portion measuring 3/8" in diameter and the bottom portion, measuring 5/8" in diameter. They have sterling screw backs. Note: the pictures show light reflection on the jet, but each circle is a deep solid black, with a nice shine.
Zuni jewelry both inlay and cluster work, are obviously some
of the most difficult to create. Along with this work being very time
consuming, the artist must master not only silversmithing, buy lapidary (stone
cutting). Our respect for the many Zuni artist goes without question, as they
are truly a gifted people.
