This lovely bolo displays the fine detail work found with all of the Hopi pieces done by artist Vernon Mansfield active (1959-1990). His was Verdon Mansfields father. He began jewelry making in 1959. The bolo has a deep smooth patina. He lost his hallmarked stamp after 1967 and started using his new stamp in 1970, this is why this bolo has no hallmark stamp. It is labeled by the owner as his.
It measures 2 5/8" long by 2" wide. The tips are 2 1/2" long. Total length is 43".
This bolo is one of many collected over years by a Physician/professor that wore his bolos every day to his classroom and lectures. Many have small stickers showing the date he wore them and in what class he was teaching. It's an honor to share some of his special bolos with others.
