Description

This is a particularly fine bracelet from the early days of the Santa Fe Railroad, Fred Harvey Hotel and Trading Post period. Made in the 1930’s to be sold to travelers on the new highway or rail system running through the Southwest. Shops that produced multiple pieces of the familiar heavily stamped machined designs, employed local Native American artists to complete the work by setting stones and applying pre-stamped out ornaments. Each artisan was encouraged to use his or her own design patterns to create a large variety in which to choose from. I can’t express how remarkable this bracelet is; from the outstanding #8 webbed turquoise stone to the wonderful silver work surrounding the stone. There’s no artisan hallmark. Fred Harvey era jewelry is widely collected as an antique jewelry genre valued for its Southwest look and historic context.

This lovely 1930's/1940's bracelet features a gorgeous fine, black webbed #8 turquoise stone. This piece is aged with a wonderful deep patina. The overall integrity of the bracelet is excellent. The top center width (stones & silver) is 1 7/8" wide tapering to 5/8" at the bottom terminals. The interior of the cuff measuring 5 1/2" with an opening gap of 1". Slightly adjustable.
