Description

This rare bracelet was crafted in the 1940's by renowned silversmith Tom Burnside (c. 1910-1957). The bracelet features 3 large natural contoured, vivid blue turquoise stones. This is a combination of heavy silver work with the addition of twist wire and covered terminals. This piece is beautifully aged with slight wear. The bracelet is hallmarked with his T.B. on back and side terminal. Just beautiful!

Tom Burnside was mentioned in the early book by John Adair. He was from Pine Springs Az. and worked out of his home.
In 1938 anthropologist John Adair travelled to the Navajo reservation in Pine Springs, Arizona, with a 16mm hand-wind motion picture camera. Adair met and filmed Tom Burnside and his family, all Navajo handcrafters, creating a visual record of Navajo life in the 1930s. Tom was known for his cast work, but also did traditional silver work, such as with this wonderful bracelet. A vintage piece of history of a Navajo silversmith and his work.

The top width is 2 1/4" wide tapering to 7/8" at the bottom terminals. The interior of the cuff measuring 5 1/2" with an opening gap of 1 3/8". Can be adjusted slightly.
