This beautifully crafted Squash Blossom necklace is hand crafted Navajo work. Circa: 1960's/70's. It is a stunning necklace with heavy beads and a gorgeous traditional cast naja. Very fine work!! Heavier gauge silver was used on the handcrafted beads and time was taken to smooth them out to a beautiful finish. A wonderful smooth patina graces the entire necklace. This lovely necklace comes from a family collection, with personal connections to the Navajo - Hopi TP on Rte. 66 in Flagstaff AZ (owners), Gallup NM Mercantile, Dean Kirk TP in Manuelito NM and Tobe Turpen's TP in Gallup, NM. There is etching on the back side from the previous owner for identification. Not hallmarked which was common during this era, but the precise workmanship shows a master artist. This necklace does not have a maker's mark--being of a time when such things were not commonly done. The overall condition is excellent. The Naja measures 2 1/4" tall by 1 5/8" wide. The necklace measures 28" long including the naja.
