This lovely concho belt was hand crafted by well-know Hopi artist Lewis Lomay. c:(1913-1996). He began his career in jewelry in 1930's and worked for a period of time with Frank Patania Sr. in Santa Fe NM. His designs were both traditional Hopi with a touch of European influence at times. His work is highly collectable, as well it should be.
This beautiful concho belt is set with 11 quality Morenci turquoise stones. A unique design with double concho's, where as each top concho sets up 1/8" above the bottom concho. Very precise file and stamp work on each concho.
The concho's measure 2 1/8" by 1 11/16" with the buckle measuring 2 3/8" by 2". A beautiful soft patina adds the final touch to this lovey concho belt. Hallmark with his LL and snake.
