The most renowned fetish carvers are the Zuni, who call themselves Asiwi (Ah-she-wee). Traditionally, Zuni fetishes are small carvings made from various materials by the Zuni Indians. These carvings serve a ceremonial purpose for their creators and depict animals and icons integral to their culture. As a form of contemporary Native American art, they are sold with non-religious intentions to collectors worldwide.

This wonderful and rare large double frog was carved by Charles Hustito, who was well- known in Zuni. Charles and Alonzo Hustito were both deeply involved in the Return of the Zuni War Gods. Both of their remarks are published in several articles on the subject of artifacts being returned to the Zuni people. He was also a well-known and respected carver, whose carvings have the most wonderful features.

The frog measures 4" tall by 4" deep by 2" wide. The material used is a very colorful Picasso Marble. Hallmarked. CH and a date that can parcialy be seen.

Note: The Zunis who participated in the 1985 pilgrimage all went on foot and horseback, and all alternated riding and walking.
