Among the most renowned Zuni fetish carvers, Edna Leki was the first female carver in Zuni. The legacy of the carving style of Teddy Weahkee (d.) has been preserved in the family down through the years and is still represented today in the younger generation. Edna (d.) taught her children Lena, Dinah, and Anderson (d.) the family style, and they in turn passed it down to their children.

This bushy tail is carved from beautiful Picasso Marble. The offering bundle consists of a yellow lip shell arrowhead, turquoise nuggets, a coral branch and heishe beads tied with sinew. The eyes are inlaid of with turquoise and as usual the fetish is unsigned.

This wonderful fetish measures 3 3/8" long by 11/2" tall. A wonderful piece of history from an amazing woman artist. c: 1924-2003
