This beautifully carved Bear with a turquoise bundle is handcrafted Zuni work. It measures 1 1/4" long by 1" tall by 1/2" wide. The material used is Picasso Marble stone. Bear Zuni Fetish Carvings represent strength, inner power to perceive ones present circumstances. Hallmarked.

During the 1960's and 70's with the excitement at it's peak for Native American art, few Zuni carvers were selling their carvings, but rather keeping them in the Zuni village for personal use. Over time the Zuni carvers realized others loved and appreciated their carvings, thus their market opened to the world.
