This amazing necklace has possible attributions to the early silver work of Slender Maker of Silver or one of the 10 smiths that worked for him. Slender Maker was widely respected as the first great master among Navajo silversmiths. He was active from the 1870's into 1910's. D: 1916. He is the father of well-known silversmith Fred Peshlakai, who learned from his father and went on to become a master silversmith himself. This beautiful classic squash blossom necklace offers first phase crafting of ingot silver. The sound of the beads and the feel of the silver are beyond compare. The center piece is a beautiful sand cast naja, with 3 turquoise stones. The fillings on the naja and on the inner part of each blossom, are recognized components of his work. The overall piece is in excellent condition, with what appears to be the original 3 strands of cloth string or cord.

This amazing necklace is not small, with 13 mm beads. Each of the 20 blossom measures 1 3/8" from end to end. The Naja measures 2 3/4" tall by 2 1/4" wide. A traditional wrap, with some wear graces the back of the necklace. The bead portion measures 23" long, with the addition of the 6” wrap. Truly a gorgeous necklace on!
