Description

The most renowned fetish carvers are the Zuni, who call themselves Asiwi (Ah-she-wee). Traditionally, Zuni fetishes are small carvings made from various materials by the Zuni Indians. These carvings serve a ceremonial purpose for their creators and depict animals and icons integral to their culture. As a form of contemporary Native American art, they are sold with non-religious intentions to collectors worldwide.

This wonderful double carved Owls with a white shell rabbit and red shell bird with 2 eggs sitting inside the hollow tree was hand carved by Marveleta Phillips and measures 2 1/2" tall by 2 1/8" wide. The material used is antler. Hallmarked.
