Description
This beautiful Hopi pin dates back many decades. It's maker was Hopi artist McBride Lomayestewa, who began producing jewelry in the mid 1950's at the Hopi Guild. He along with Fred Kabotie and Mark Lomayestewa influenced renowned Hopi artist Michael Kabotie and others early on, in the use of the overlay technique.
This wonderful pin is an early form of overlay, where the technique of silver on silver is used, but not many cutouts. Depicting a mud-head figure/hunter the pin measures 3 1/2" long by 1 1/4" wide. Hallmarked with the Hopi Silvercraft Guild and lighting symbol.
