This lovely bracelet was handcrafted by well-known Hopi artist Lewis Lomay. c:(1913-1996). He began his career in jewelry in 1930's and worked for a long period of time with Frank Patania Sr. in Santa Fe NM. His designs were both traditional Hopi with a touch of European influence at times. His work is highly collectable, as well it should be. Hallmarked with LL, with his Snake. This hallmark was used during his time working with Frank Patania at the Thunderbird Shop in Santa Fe, from 1927 into the early 1960's.
The lovely bracelet is set with a vivid blue natural turquoise stone that swivels at the wrist. Fine line file work and a soft patina on the silver adds to the simple beauty of this bracelet. It looks fragile but is not and has some weight. The stone and silver portion measures 1" by 3/4" wide. The inside measures 5 3/8" with a 1" opening. Slightly adjustable. Looks so pretty on the wrist!
