This
beautiful, double sided necklace was hand carved by Zuni master carver, Leekya
Deyuse. The 3 leaves, 2 large beads and 8 natural turquoise carved paddles have
a lovely pale green color with a light to dark rust/brown matrix. The turquoise
is from one of the early finds of the Herget turquoise mine in Cochise county AZ,
which was one owned by Trader C.G. Wallace. Each stone was pump drilled. The
carved stone has a low luster matt finish. Uniquely crafted silver holders,
securely holds 2 of the paddles at the top. One of the paddles broke along the
way, but appears to be nicely repaired. The silver beads are also very nice,
with a even patina on all. Strung on a cotton cord. The color is really a
pretty green, which was hard to get exact in the pictures. Each side has its own
unique matrix patterns. Lovely on!!!
The
necklace measures 26 1/2" total length. The center leaf measures 2
3/8" long by 1 3/8" wide and is approx. 5/8" thick. The smallest
silver/turquoise paddles measure 1 1/8" long by 5/8" and 3/4"
wide.
