Description

This vintage sandcast pin is handmade, Navajo work, un-signed. Date of creation 1950's. The Navajo were the first of the Native Americans of the Southwest to learn silversmithing from the Spanish. Most Navajo jewelry emphasizes silver, with turquoise stones used as an accent. Some pieces are cast in sand or tufa molds, while others are hammered and then hand stamped. This beautiful pin measures 2 1/4" wide by 2" long. The turquoise stone is natural high grade Morenci and measures 5/16" round.
