Description

A outstanding crafted bolo by Navajo master artist Fred Thompson. It features 4 heavy silver leaves that wrap over the 3 beautiful blue/green turquoise stones. The turquoise has a beautiful aged color change. The silver tips are hand stamped on the bottom bead. Simple yet elegant in design.

The bolo is 3 1/2" long by 1 3/4" wide. The tips are 2 1/2" long, with the leather length of 21 1/4". Hallmarked.

Fred Thompson worked as a smith for trader Tobe Turpen at the age of 15 and built his career on the skills he learned in Turpen's shop. He made his own stamps, never sold to dealers, and only sold wholesale to Tobe Turpen. After serving in WWII, he continued to make pieces into the 1990's. He was a teacher as well as a silversmith. World renowned, he focused on traditional Navajo styles, producing his work with utmost skill using the highest quality stones available. A master of the art.
