This stunning vintage 1940's Zuni necklace is inlaid with natural Blue Gem turquoise, jet, mother of pearl and orange Abalone shell. The age, workmanship and style of the design lends itself to the early Masters of Zuni inlay artists, such as Mary Kallistewa, Lambert Homer Sr., Leo Poblano, Teddy Weahkee, Frank Vacit and Bessie Tucson. It features 12 rainbow, clouds motif design and a beautifully designed naja. The necklace is assembled on a double row of early, heavy silver beads. This necklace is absolutely beautiful!
Many of the early Zuni jewelers worked for Trader C.G. Wallace, starting in the late 1920's. Similar work is found in the C.G. Wallace 1975 auction catalog.
The beautiful necklace measures, 34" long, including the 3 1/2" x 3 1/4" naja. The rainbow/cloud components measure 1 5/8" by 1". Not hallmarked. This necklace is more than jewelry, but a visual reminder of the incredible talent of the early masters! Please visit our artist biography page.
