A beautifully crafted bracelet by Navajo master artist Fred Thompson (1921-2002). A traditional design with 7 high grade Natural Morenci turquoise stones. These stones are high grade Morenci, with iron pyrite visible in several of the stones. Very fine stamp work on the entire bracelet adds the final touch to this piece. A smooth patina graces the silver. The bracelet measures 11/16" wide, tapering to 3/8" at bottom terminals. The inside measuring 5 1/4" with a 1 1/8" opening. Nice heavier weight. Hallmarked with Freds Tilda.

Fred Thompson worked as a smith for trader Tobe Turpen at the age of 15 and built his career on the skills he learned in Turpen's shop. He made his own stamps, never sold to dealers, and only sold wholesale to Tobe Turpen. After serving in WWII, he continued to make pieces into the 1990's. He was a teacher as well as a silversmith. World renowned, he focused on traditional Navajo styles, producing his work with utmost skill using the highest quality stones available. A master of the art.
