Description

A beautifully crafted bracelet by Navajo master artist Fred Thompson (1921-2002). A traditional design with 5 lovely symmetrical,
faceted shaped Mediterranean coral
cabochons. Beautiful stamp work on the sides. Nice heavy weight.

The bracelet measures 1/2" wide, with the inside measuring 5" with a 1 1/8" opening. Slightly adjustable. Hallmarked with Freds Tilda.

Fred Thompson worked as a smith for trader Tobe Turpen at the age of 15 and built his career on the skills he learned in Turpen's shop. He made his own stamps, never sold to dealers, and only sold wholesale to Tobe Turpen. After serving in WWII, he continued to make pieces into the 1990's. He was a teacher as well as a silversmith. World renowned, he focused on traditional Navajo styles, producing his work with utmost skill using the highest quality stones available. A master of the art.
