Zuni artists Ray & Eva Wayco were active from the 1960's. They were best known for their inlaid animal figures and also their fine needle point jewelry. This beautifully made Eagle bolo is set with turquoise, jet, Mother of Pearl and vivid yellow lip shell. Parts of the figures are also carved. The matching Eagle head tips are just so perfect with this bolo. The detail throughout this bolo is a wonderful example of two of Zuni's most talented artists. This one is hallmarked with RAY & EVA WAYCO, ZUNI.
The bolo measures 4" tall by 3 1/4" wide with 1 1/8" by 1" tips. The black braided leather with the 3 1/4" tips total length is 44" long.
This bolo is one of many collected over years by a Physician/professor that wore his bolos every day to his classroom and lectures. Many have small stickers showing the date he wore them and in what class he was teaching. It's an honor to share some of his special bolos with others.
