This beautifully carved Mountain Lion with a turquoise and spiny oyster shell bundle was handcrafted by Bernard Homer, Zuni and measures 2 1/2" long by 1 1/8" tall by 1/2" wide. The material used is banded Dolomite.

During the 1970's with the excitement at it's peak for Native American art, few Zuni carvers were selling their carvings, but rather keeping them in the Zuni village for personal use. Over time the Zuni carvers realized others loved and appreciated their carvings, thus their market opened to the world.
