Description

The heavy silver is beautifully worked, hand hammered with very deep repousee. This 1920's ketoh features an incredible, very high domed Natural Persian turquoise stone that is surrounded with ornate hand stamping. The classic ketoh was originally created by the Navajo as a form of wrist protection for hunter. It would guard the lower arm from being hit by the bowstring once the arrow was released. This aged bow guard is in very good condition with slight wear on one of the repousee's.

It looks to be the original heavy saddle leather band with strap. The leather portion of the piece measures 3 1/2" wide x 8 1/4" long, with the silver guard measuring 3 1/2" by 2 5/8". The Persian stone measures 1" by 11/16" with a 3/8" high dome. Bow guards are now worn by both men and women as bracelets.
