Zuni artist Angelia Cellicion was active from1940's. She and her husband Oliver were best known for their figural mosaic inlay. This beautifully made Zuni Knifewing bolo is set with turquoise, jet, Mother of Pearl and coral. Their mosaic designs are beautifully crafted, very tight and precise. The detail throughout this bolo and also the matching tips is a wonderful example of one of Zuni's most talented artists. This one is hallmarked with A G ZUNI on a plate.
The bolo measures 4 3/8" tall by 2 1/8" wide with 4 1/2" tips. The actual figure of the tips is 2 1/4" by 1". The black braided leather with tips total length is 47" long.
This bolo is one of many collected over years by a Physician/professor that wore his bolos every day to his classroom and lectures. Many have small stickers showing the date he wore them and in what class he was teaching. It's an honor to share some of his special bolos with others.
