The most renowned fetish carvers are the Zuni, who call themselves Asiwi (Ah-she-wee). Traditionally, Zuni fetishes are small carvings made from various materials by the Zuni Indians. These carvings serve a ceremonial purpose for their creators and depict animals and icons integral to their culture. As a form of contemporary Native American art, they are sold with non-religious intentions to collectors worldwide.

This beautifully carved buffalo was handcrafted by Florentine Martinez and has inset silver around the hoofs. It measures 1 3/8" long by 1 3/8" tall. The material used is Alabaster.
