This lovely Pueblo necklace features a mix of Natural Blue Diamond turquoise tabs and red and orange Spiny Oyster tabs with hand rolled, graduated Spiny oyster heishi beads. The addition of a unique Spiny Jacla (earring) pair and single Jacla with large spiny oyster corns adds the final touch to this wonderful necklace. It has a signature turquoise bead at the top and the addition of a hand carved turquoise bear and fox fetish. A traditional wrap finishes the necklace.

A great deal of hard work goes into the making of these type necklaces. The smooth, beautifully finished tabs and fine workmanship of the heishi lends itself to a master at his or her craft. It is just beautiful on! The necklace is 30" long to the end of the necklace portion with an additional 7" long Jacla's. The largest turquoise tab is 1 1/2" by 1".

This style of beadwork is thought to be the oldest form of jewelry from New Mexico and is still practiced today mostly among Native Americans of the Santo Domingo (Kewa) and San Felipe Pueblos. These necklaces have been worn for decades by many different tribes. It predates the metalworking and lapidary techniques practiced by the Navajo, Hopi and Zuni, which were introduced by Europeans.
