This beautifully made Butterfly maiden bolo was crafted by Zuni artist Walter Nahktewa. Walter began his career in jewelry in the 1940's. His work was outstanding, yet he never got the recognition he so much deserved.

The bolo has Blue Gem turquoise, jet, Mother of Pearl and red coral. This maiden shows the best of Walters work, with his distinct raised mosaic design, finely carved features in the very top teardrops and collar. Inlaid tips add the final touch to this bolo. The detail throughout this bolo is a wonderful! Not hallmarked, which was common in his early work.

The bolo measures 2" long by 1 7/8" wide. Black braided leather with tips measure 20" long.
