This beautifully carved Bear with a yellow mussel shell bundle was handcrafted by Zuni artist Tony Ahiyite and measures 2 1/4" long by 1 3/16" tall by 5/8" wide. The material used is Crazy Horse stone. Bear Zuni Fetish Carvings represent strength, inner power to perceive ones present circumstances. Hallmarked.

During the 1970's with the excitement at it's peak for Native American art, few Zuni carvers were selling their carvings, but rather keeping them in the Zuni village for personal use. Over time the Zuni carvers realized others loved and appreciated their carvings, thus their market opened to the world.
