Among the most renowned Zuni fetish carvers, Edna Leki was the first female carver in Zuni. The legacy of the carving style of Teddy Weahkee (d.) has been preserved in the family down through the years and is still represented today in the younger generation. Edna (d.) taught her children Lena, Dinah, and Anderson (d.) the family style, and they in turn passed it down to their children.

This bushy tail is carved from beautiful webbed green Serpentine. The offering bundle consists of a green lip shell arrowhead, turquoise nuggets and coral branch tied with sinew. As usual the fetish is unsigned.

This wonderful fetish measures 3 3/4" long by 13/4" tall. A wonderful piece of history from an amazing woman artist. c: 1924-2003
