A outstanding crafted bolo by Navajo master artist Fred Thompson. Fine detailed stamp and file work, frames a beautiful top grade, natural Morenci turquoise stone. The stone measures 1 1/2" long by 9/16" wide. The overall length with the silver design is 2 1/2". The tips are 2 1/8" long, with the leather length of 21 1/2". Hallmarked.

Fred Thompson worked as a smith for trader Tobe Turpen at the age of 15 and built his career on the skills he learned in Turpen's shop. He made his own stamps, never sold to dealers, and only sold wholesale to Tobe Turpen. After serving in WWII, he continued to make pieces into the 1990's. He was a teacher as well as a silversmith. World renowned, he focused on traditional Navajo styles, producing his work with utmost skill using the highest quality stones available. A master of the art.
