This unique tuff cast bracelet was created by Mission/Hopi artist Preston Monongye. (1927-1987) active. It features a full figure, traditional black Ogre in the casting, with a beautiful swirling open design and two very fine stone inlaid areas. The overall integrity of the bracelet is in excellent condition. It measures 1 3/4" wide, tapering to 1 1/4". The interior of the cuff measuring 5" with a opening gap of 1 1/8". Hallmarked.

Preston's heritage was influential in his creation of his art in both jewelry and paintings. His mother was a California Mission Indian, while his father was Hispanic. He was adopted by Nora and David Monongye, Hopi family from Hotevilla, Arizona at the age of 7. He was an apprentice to his uncle, Gene Pooyama from Hopi. His amazing career saw multiple Best in Show, Grand prize ribbons and 53 additional ribbons. His work has been exhibited in Brussels, Paris and many museums in addition to many art publications. Preston also lectured and taught silversmithing and served on the Ceremonial Board of Directors in Gallup, NM.
