Johnny Secatero is a Navajo artist whose work spans over several decades. Johnny was born in 1945. He graduated from Diné College and went on to complete his master’s degree in elementary education. He taught Navajo language and culture at Lukachukai Community School. He was Lukachukai Chapter Vice-President for two terms.

One of his hobbies was painting, which he mastered quite nicely. Often working with watercolors, his subjects would frequently be of Zuni spiritual figures and dancers Johnny passed away August 2010. His many talents and teachings of the Dine' culture were something to admire. He will be missed.

One of the best known Dine' painters, Johnny's watercolors always presented a sense of accuracy and detail, with simple backgrounds and realistic figures. This wonderful painting depicts two Zuni Kachina dancer.

Sight size is 19 1/2" by 15 1/4". Framed, acid free glass, matted size 25" by 21 3/4".

His paintings appear is numerous private and public collections.Hi work is published in the Clara Lee Tanner book titled Southwest Indian Painting. Winning numerous awards over his career.
