Description

Victor Coochwytewa was one of three Native American elders chosen as Arizona Indian Living Treasures at the seventh annual AILTA award ceremony held in Phoenix in September 1994. This recognition is but one of the many accolades bestowed upon the Master Hopi Jeweler in a career spanning more than half a century. Decorated World War II Veteran (1922-2011). Victor retired from Hopi Silversmithing and his beloved farming in 2006. He continued living with his family at Hopi. Victor passed away at the age of 89 on July 3, 2011. An accomplished master Hopi jeweler and a humble man. Victor's work is not only amazing but highly collectable.

This lovely overlay necklace is set with an incredibly beautiful, natural webbed Manassa turquoise stone. It offers the best of Victors work, with precise detail throughout. The heavy silver hand-crafted portions of the necklace, have a simple design which is perfect to show off the stone. A smooth, soft patina graces the silver portions. Hallmarked with Victors GI Bill mark, class of 1949-1952.

The turquoise center piece measures 1 7/16" tall by 1 1/8" wide. The necklace is 16 1/2" long. His hand-made chain allows for adjustment with length. Note: the light areas on the stone are light reflection.
