This beautifully
inlaid Plains Indian man was done by master Zuni artist Leo Poblano (1905 -
1959). The materials he used is carved jet, carved mother of pearl, white clam
shell, abalone shell and Blue Gem turquoise, set in a fine saw tooth bezel,
with a silver design on the outer edge of the pants.
The pin has a C.G. Wallace traders code etched on the back near the pin. This
gives an approximate date (1940's) of when it was made. Leo traded or sold most
of his work to C.G. Wallace in Zuni, NM. Leo did not hallmark his work.
The male pin is shown with a female pin, from the personal collection of Andrew
Munana. The male pin is the one for sale.
The pin measures 4
3/16" tall by 2 3/8" wide. See Artist Biographies on Home Page.
