Description

This lovely set of serving pieces is hand-wrought sterling silver. Beautifully crafted by a Navajo artist. An array of beautiful stamping graces each stem and the center of the spoon and fork. The main stamp is a large Star of Texas with the Hibiscus Star of Texas flower in the center. Then there are several other significant stamps, with the bow and arrow and Swastika. The Whirling Log (swastika) is a very old (1890-1940) symbol used by the Navajo and other tribes that predates the negative use of the symbol. It represented the four directions in the tribal beliefs. In February 1940, the tribes banned the use of the symbol. This set was crafted with heavy silver, where you can still see the file marks and hammer marks. A wonderful serving set to add to any collection.

This lovely set measures 10" long, with the spoon portion measuring 1 7/8" wide and fork measuring 1 3/4" wide. Not hallmarked which was common prior during this early era.
