Description

Among the most renowned Zuni inlayers and fetish carvers is Teddy Weahkee. This wonderful knifewing pin by Teddy, features abalone shell, jet, mother of pearl and Blue Gem turquoise. Clean cut, tight and precise set materials gives an insight into how much care he took when making his jewelry. This figure measure 4 1/8" tall by 3 1/8" wide. It is in excellent condition.

A veteran of World War I, Weahkee attended school in Phoenix; and upon returning to Zuni, he participated in the archaeological dig at Hawikuh (1917-1923) where he gained firsthand knowledge of ancient Zuni art forms.
Weahkee became well-known for his own style of jewelry and carvings.
