The Papago (Tohono O'odham or Desert People) reside in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona and Mexico. The early Papago Indian Baskets were primarily utilitarian and used to carry water, firewood, prepare food and for storage. Tohono O'odham Indian baskets are handmade using Native Plants such as Yucca, Beargrass and Devils Claw. These Native American weavers rely on the natural colors of the desert plants, making them quite beautiful.
