This
wonderful Zia bowl is the work of accomplished potter Seferina Bell. c.
1920 – 1986. She began her career as a potter around the age of 20 and was quickly
recognized as one of the finest Zia potters of the mid-20
century.
She primarily made beautiful ollas, bowls and canteens which always presented
her refined talent as a painter.
This beautiful Polychrome storage jar measuring 10 1/2” wide by 6 1/4” inner rim by 7 1/4”
tall with bottom rim 3 1/3”. The circa has been dated to the 1950’s. It is in good condition
with no cracks, but has several areas with natural occuring abrasions of paint. Features a 2-panel
roadrunner design with clouds and geometric designs painted black and orange on
white slip. Hallmarked, which she began doing in the early 1940’s.
