This beautifully made Butterfly maiden pin was crafted by Zuni artist Walter Nakatewa. Walter began his career in jewelry in the 1940's. His work was outstanding, yet he never got the recognition he so much deserved.

The bolo has Blue Gem turquoise, jet, Mother of Pearl and red coral. This maiden shows the best of Walters work, with his distinct raised mosaic design and perfectly inlaid stones. The detail throughout this pin are beautiful! Not hallmarked, which was common with his early work.

The pin measures 2 1/4" tall by 1 7/8" wide.
