This Mongwu Kachina was carved and signed by world renowned Hopi carver Jimmy Kewanwytewa. It measures 15" tall by 6 1/2" wide. He is in excellent condition, with no cracks or broken parts. Extra details added are a hand drilled turquoise and clam shell heshi necklace, which he holds in his hand and small shells across the leather chest guard. Signed JK on the bottom right foot.
The Great Horned Owl Kachina has been a favorite of the kachina carvers over many decades. The carving or creation of the heads of these dolls is to be marveled at, with an assortment of materials used ( variegated fur, rabbit skin, feathers, and wood) to produce an effect of owl feathers.
