This beautiful prize winning pin was hand crafted by Zuni artist Francis Leekya. Francis is best known for his outstanding channel inlay work and fetish carvings. The son of renowned Zuni artist Leekya Deyuse, Frances grew up in a family with many great carvers and in-layers. This lovely piece is set with Natural Morenci turquoise in an array of colors. The pin offers the best of his work, with his distinct channel inlay design and precise curved silver work. A rare and unique design not often done by Francis. The pin measures 3" long by 3" wide. Not hallmarked, but the pin and ribbon were together with the exhibitors name, Francis Leekya and judges name on the ribbon. The judges name is not recognizable, as judges were brought in from around the country. We have estimated the piece being done during the mid 50's.
