Description

Harry Morgan c: 1946-2007 spent his life in and around Gallup, New Mexico. He won awards at every major Native American art show and had a special showing at the Heard Museum the year before he died. He learned to silversmith at a young age and began working with his uncles, Charlie Bitsui and Ike Wilson, two well-known silversmiths that did many beautiful pieces for the famous trader C.G. Wallace.

Harry was a master and one of the finest traditional style Navajo smiths. His jewelry is among the best ever made. Harry Morgan was commissioned to make the special bridles for the Movie “The Horse Whisperers
(1998) directed by and starring Robert Redford.

This rare and beautiful horse bridle by Harry Morgan, features not only beautiful silver work, but all hand tanned and cut leather also done by Harry. The center Browband measures 3” long with a drop Naja in the center. The Cheek pieces are comprised of 5 sections, all of which are precisely hand stamped and shaped. The total length of each Cheek pieces is 16”. This piece is Hallmarked.

Following in his fathers footsteps, Harry’s son Jacob has also refined his own silversmithing talents and has become one of our very favorite artists, doing amazing traditional designs.
