A beautifully crafted ring by Navajo master artist Fred Thompson. Fine detailed stamp and file work, frames a perfect natural Morenci turquoise stone, with tiny flecks of pyrite. A wonderful patina graces this ring. It stone measures 3/4" long by 1/2" wide with the overall length of 1" long. Size 10 1/4. Can be sized up. Hallmarked with the Turpen shop mark and his mark.

Fred Thompson worked as a smith for trader Tobe Turpen at the age of 15 and built his career on the skills he learned in Turpen's shop. He made his own stamps, never sold to dealers, and only sold wholesale to Tobe Turpen. After serving in WWII, he continued to make pieces into the 1990's. He was a teacher as well as a silversmith. World renowned, he focused on traditional Navajo styles, producing his work with utmost skill using the highest quality stones available. A master of the art.
